I Wear a Bikini because… Fuck You
Here are the top six reasons why I, as a 43-year-old, size 12, mother of four, woman with thunder thighs, feel totally justified in rocking a two piece.
1. I Don't Give a Shit
I actually do not exist for your viewing pleasure and your ideas about who should and should not be seen in a bikini are 0% my concern.
I have not always been married to the wonderful, supportive, man among men, husband/editor that I am now married to. I was once married to a man who said things like:
"They really should not make bikinis in any size over 8"
Now, I have not been a size 8 since I was about 8 years old - so this was kind of a dick move on his part. It also confirmed my suspicions that people who make "rules" about how other people should treat their bodies are best left alone - far away from any people who may inadvertently offend them.
I also have sisters who regularly say things like:
"She has no business being in a bikini"
Well, lucky for me I am not wearing a bikini to drum up business.
I was on the beach in Miami once when a 300lb grandma walked happily down the beach in a brightly colored two-piece. This was intensely disturbing to a group of vacationing, suburban women talking about yoga addiction, shame eating, and jeggings. There were gasps, there were sighs, and there was one Zanax-deprived woman, so distraught, crying out:
"That is just not right"
It is a bathing suit people. Perhaps we should all just relax.
2. I Have a Bikini Body
I know this because I put an actual bikini… on my body. If you are waiting to break out the bikini when your body is perfect, resign yourself to a one piece.
3. It is Closer to Being Naked
Swimming is best done naked. When laws of society make that awkward - we should at least be able to swim with the least amount of wet fabric against our bodies.
4. My Belly Has Earned It
If there is one part if my body that should be able to do whatever the fuck it wants. it is my mid-section. Four of the greatest people I know have lived there. Hard working = flauntable.
5. I Have Daughters
I want to show them a woman comfortable in her body, who is active right along side them. A woman who’s not sitting poolside under a big cover-up, because anything less might be considered inappropriate.
6. It is by Popular Request
Well, maybe not popular - but certainly frequent - requests come in for me to wear a bikini. Ok, it is only ever my husband/editor who asks - nay, pleads, for this particular ensemble. But, he is tenacious and I like to throw him a bone every once in a while. [Editor’s note: Thanks, honey, for the bone]
You are a very beautiful woman. Screw anyone telling you what you should or should not wear!
ReplyDeleteThanks you so much. I will take your advice- figuratively.
DeleteYou are an amazing woman and true inspiration to me :) so happy I met you and get to absorb your wisdom :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, that is super meaningful to me.
DeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteRock on! I love all of your reasons.
ReplyDeleteRocking on! Thanks so much.
DeleteGood for you! Don't see how it is anybody else's business.
ReplyDeleteTrue story.
DeleteEveryone needs to feel free to express themselves and those who sit ready to judge ... they will always be around but you can be sure they never have much of a following !
ReplyDeleteOr sometimes they do - but I am on the side of positive. Thanks.
DeleteUmmm. . . personally I think if you are a size 12 after carrying FOUR children, you deserve a diamond encrusted bikini. Rock on!!
ReplyDeleteSeconded!
DeleteI know, right? I will look for one! :-)
DeleteGreat for you. I was once married to a man who would look at women who had gained weight after being married a while, and say,"look what she did to her husband ". As if her body was her husband's. I would just think, you are such a jerk. Actually, I thought worse, but just walked out of the room. H e said way more stupid things worth arguing about.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear all of that. I hope you have moved onto honoring yourself with passion.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that, I hope you have moved on to honoring yourself with passion.
DeleteYour daughters are incredibly fortunate that you are setting such a wonderful example for them! You make me feel a bit ashamed of how often I've said "this body does not go out in public in a bathing suit!" Fortunately, one of my daughters got the message I was trying to impart, in spite of this awful (and too often heard) comment about myself. And special kudos to your husband for loving you for yourself, and not for the package you happen to be wrapped in, but loving the package as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Will pass on the much deserved kudos and I will let my daughters know how lucky they are (they sometimes forget).
DeleteNever feel ashamed! Who has time for that?
I hope you now show lots of kindness to yourself.
You go girl! You don't need a reason. Rock on with your bad self!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou forgot the one where that is an adorable bikini. That would be all the coaxing I needed. I mean, hey, it's in your size so they MUST want you to rock it.
ReplyDeleteTrue story. I was trying to rock the Marianne from Gilligan's Island look.
DeleteThis is awesome!! And you are gorgeous! You have a new fan in me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, happy to have you on board!
DeleteGood to see that you're comfortable with who you are. Hopefully others will learn from your example.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great, thanks so much!
DeleteIm a size sixteen with no kids and will definitely be rocking a bikini this summer
ReplyDeleteGo for it! Sun up that belly!
DeleteIm a size 2 but I used to be a 14. I lost the weight mostly to stress. I miss my boobs but my legs make up for it. Every shape has its perks. Also going to the bathroom in a wet one piece suuuuucks, and it only gets worse as you get bigger.
ReplyDeleteTrue story, you can always find something to love about yourself.
DeleteYou can also always find something to hate about yourself.
It is a choice - sounds like you are making some good ones.
I have a really hard time believing that you're a size 12. I'm a 16-18, and carry 19% body fat and look a lot slimmer than you. And no, I am not extra tall. In fact, I'm only 5'4", and my ribs stick out like an anorexic by the time I get to your supposed size. Wear what you want, sure, but don't lie about your size. If you are indeed a 12 then you have a lot of body fat to shed in order to be healthy. Think about your children, not trying to promote fat acceptance.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that you feel the need to shame this woman. Maybe take a look inside yourself to see where the real issues lie before you go trolling and attempting to make others feel bad about their bodies, when in fact you are projecting an insecurity about your own body.
DeleteAre from the UK Unknown? Because I suspect she's referring to a US size 12, which is quite a bit larger.
DeleteDid you read the article AT ALL?
DeleteI am just using the size inside my jeans - if it helps you sleep better at night, replace 12 with 20 or whatever you want. The essence of the blog remains. In fact, perhaps you should take another read.
DeleteSeems to me you are the one with the problem and not this beautiful woman. To lay shame on someone else because of your own insecurities only makes you look bad. No shame on her, but shame on you!
Delete12,20,30.... doesn't matter. You've obviously missed the ENTIRE POINT OF THIS POST.
Deletehttp://girlonsaturday.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html - read about what her child has to say about her. Clearly she is doing things right. You, on the other hand, I encourage to double check you're not impressing your own body issues on your offspring.

DeleteAwesome post which I intend to share. Love it. Love your attitude and especially the bit about your midsection having earned it. Ignore the troll above, what she/he is saying doesn't even make sense? From a country with different sizing maybe?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteSize is totally irrelevant, put whatever size you want on me, I don't give a shit.
I think your husband is right! You look great in a bikini. The problem with this world today is that media has said that women should be skin and bones. Well this man prefers some meat and honey if I was single I'd go after someone like you in a second if you were single as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Meat AND honey? Wow, sounds like a good day.
DeleteBe sure to send your correct measurements to the makers because they are so detailed. My dress fits so well and I was reluctant to take it off after the fitting.
ReplyDeleteZara clothing
YOU ROCK! Only wish I had met you when I was in my 20's and walked around in a 2-piece sucking in my stomach, tucking under my butt, and trying to tense my thigh muscles so they wouldn't jiggle while I walked around.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You know what? Sometimes things jiggle.
DeleteMore attention should be paid to personal happiness & inner beauty and less about what "they" say or think... you rock :-)
ReplyDeleteTrue story Michael - thanks!
DeleteI like your style. I did the same thing this year, but opposite! Those stupid bikinis are always in my face at the stores and magazines, but I like a one piece. So this year, I finally got one and it is awesome. Stomach’s reveal or conceal is not a mandate of sexy or swimming. I am super fit and I like a one piece swimsuit. I have nothing to hide and “Grandma” comments can go to hell. People who judge, can fuck off! I think it's great that you are sharing your own similar circumstance. It is really about getting over societies bullshit and enjoying your unique life.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I love seeing people do what is right for THEM.
DeleteYes! I love this message and all the swears! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I figured - what the hell? :-)
DeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU;-)
DeleteThis 180 lb woman who stands 5'4 is sitting on her deck in a bikini applauding you!
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo! Go for it Sister!
DeleteThank you! You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU!
DeleteIf you didn't care you wouldn't make this article. Not the best logic of all time. You're just drawing attention to something that you SAY you aren't doing for people's viewing pleasure. So... why make it public then?
ReplyDeleteWhy be a dick? Posts like this are for people like you. She said x, she means x. Why do you think it's ok to negate what someone says?
DeleteBecause I write a blog.
DeleteYou are among a group of people who seem to think I am an attention whore, which really just seems like code for "Shut up and be demure woman!"
I am not buying it.
Honey you rock! What sucks is when other people try to hold you in a position because they have their insecurities about their self beauty and worth. I think you look absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhy don't you eat less, lose weight, and look better? You know, instead of celebrating your failure.
ReplyDeleteWhere, exactly, is the failure? In refusing to teach her daughters the body shame Hollywood and Madison Avenue would advocate by their apparent visions of a single ideal of beauty? In finding a lover who celebrates her body no matter what? In loving herself instead of being consumed by shame? I'm not sure I see any suggestion of failure here at all. Please elaborate, Mr. Parker, so that we can all learn from you.
DeleteFailure to whom, you? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. She likes herself the way she is, to her she is not a failure. Your opinion is irrelevant.
DeleteOh Graham so true! Why is it that I insist on being happy and carefree in my life instead of staying "in my place" and wrought with insecurities and set in the knowledge that I will never be good enough?
DeleteYou are right, Graham - I have failed at being miserable.
Keep spreading Joy!!!
^^ OMG I love this reply as much as the article. "in my place" indeed.
DeleteThank you, sister, for writing this post and inspiring my body-positive friends to share it so that I would see it today. BTW, you are totally rocking the Mary Ann look.
It's nobody's business what size or weight you are. Some people like vanilla, some chocolate, some neither. Who cares?! It's your life you get to do with it as you will. What folks don't get that tell you to lose weight, is that, if you want to do so, you will. No amount of them telling you is going to change that. And it is my belief that in order to lose weight, one has to love who they are first. Frankly I think you look attractive. Your hubby is a lucky guy. But it's the inside beauty that most folks don't get. I see through, your good outside looks, to your awesome inner beauty. It sounds like hubby does too. Glad to hear it! And I'm glad you're being the positive role model that you are for your kiddos. They tend to look through the bullshit and see the real message, which is to do what makes you happy, and to not concern yourself with what anyone else thinks. Keep rockin that bikini!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robert!
DeleteYou go, girl, go! You're a beautiful woman, no matter your size. And if your hubby wants you in a two-piece, by God that's where you belong! :-)
ReplyDeleteHe just cheered:-)
DeleteIf your hubby wants you in a two-piece, then he can wear the two-piece. And you can wear whatever you want.
DeleteI weigh 240lbs, and I damn sure will rock a bikini if I so choose, it's by body, I choose what yo put on it!
ReplyDeleteTrue story!
DeleteI love your title
ReplyDeleteI Wear a Bikini because… Fuck You
You go girl!!!
Thanks so much!
Deletewhen i first met my husband i was like skin and bones and he suggested i gain weight cause he likes a girl with meat on her bones so u go girl love this blog post sharing it
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteI love this post! It's just more proof that one of the coolest things about growing older is growing more comfortable in our own skin! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat is true. Thank god for 40.
DeleteI would also beg you to wear it. So not just your hubby. There are lots of us men out there that like all different kinds of women.
ReplyDeleteRock on Don! I am a fan of people cherishing differences.
DeleteGood for you to have the confidence that even the smallest size women do not have in themselves. My only issue with this article are the Health risks. Being in the health and fitness industry, my concern is that Obesity is a huge issue and promoting it in even this way, is showing that it is okay! I hope for your sake your confidence also shows in your healthy eating habits, exercise and lifestyle. That we are all teaching our children this type of confidence in themselves as well as being HEALTHY in life!!! AGAIN- I think it is a wonderful thing to have your confidence, I just hope you remember that this can also be extremely unhealthy way to promote yourself.
ReplyDeleteAll true, and a valid concern. I promise I am taking care of my health and I am active and eat whole, real foods. I am stressing the importance of this to my kids, while also accepting that my body, even at its healthiest - is not slim.
DeleteThat's wonderful to hear and great to know you are setting a healthy example to your children that not everyone has to be a small size to be Happy and Healthy!
DeleteThanks for the share!
ReplyDeleteI have always been to scared about what people think to wear a bikini I have an 18 inch scar across my stomach from a surgery and am a size 14. But after reading your blog I am inspired to wear a damned bikini if I want to. It's my battle scar and my body if I want to show it off then I should. Thank you for being so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteIt is exactly how your body is and is meant to be. Be in it, wear whatever you want - it gives others permission to do the same.
DeleteI wish I could be like you. I admire you. Unfortunately I am still stuck in this body shame ... I don't even judge others, just myself. It sucks!
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way. Sigh...
DeleteIf you want to have a sincere appreciation for your body and your beauty, I recommend reading this book:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Autobiography-Face-Lucy-Grealy/dp/0060569662
I love what you have to say but how do you feel about the fatkini? I just think of it as a more conservative bikini but I think it's so sexy (mine will be in next week). I am a size 22 and would rather not show all only because the most I show off is my breasts. And I don't do that much because I am a first lady (minister's wife). But anyway love your Outlook and input and you are right not their business and really they should admire the confidence instead of down it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen them before - but options are great! More power to you sister.
DeleteYou give me so much confidence, I am new mother and I love having someone like you as an example to look to. I keep seeing so many posts of all these fitness moms and just so many people "fat shaming". I have never been skinny nor want to be. I work 3 jobs and I am in school, I barely have time to sleep or eat, let alone work out. Your body is in no way shape or form fat but it is so lovely and you set such a great example for your girls. And you are just so beautiful thank you. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks! You may need this as well:

There are over 6 Billion people on the planet. Of course there are going to be many that are dickheads who can't wait to blurt out their opinion about how you should run your life. They may not like you in a bikini. As you have said, who cares? Most of the dolts who make such comments also can't stand anyone criticizing anything THEY do. Ignoring them is the best advice!
ReplyDeleteTrue story
DeleteI just about got thrown off of a guys sailboat once. We were drifting along the beach and he said, 'That woman over there has no right to be wearing a bathing suit, she should have stayed home!' I said, 'I find it interesting that people feel the need to project their own insecurities onto others. She has just as much of a right to feel the sun on her flesh as any other human being.' .... it was a cold & awkward ride back to the docks...
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
Delete#7: you have sons.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what size my wife is, and I honestly don't give a single flying fuck. She is beautiful, smart, funny and the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love her and my children with everything that I am. Maybe someday people will stop judging by how we look and judge by our actions instead. Until then, have some fun and answer your door naked. The Jehovah's Witnesses really get a kick out of that one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for existing Mike. I love love and people who appreciate their partners.
DeleteDo you realize that being this much overweight presents all sorts of risks like diabetes and heart disease? When you die of a stroke at 65, like my grandma, and leave your kids motherless and your husband a widower, what point will that prove? People judge obese people because obesity shows lack of self control and motivation. I cannot fathom carrying 200 extra lbs of fat on myself. I am 143lbs, and in dire need to lose 20lbs because I get out of breath going up the stairs, Its hard for me to run, and in general I feel much heavier. I cannot believe what discomfort someone who is 300lbs has to go through.
ReplyDeleteYes, I realize that. I also don't weigh 300 lbs, so that was kind of weird. Look, I am active and healthy - all my "numbers" are fantastic. I promote and live by high nutrition standards. It feels like you may have made some conclusions about me and all "obese" people - but I encourage you to unpack your own baggage around these issues and live and let live.
DeleteI am not about "Fat Acceptance" - I am simply about loving acceptance for all living things (even judgemental ones).
Im am a man that is 6ft 330lbs I have no discomfort in walking 2 miles a day at work or climbing steps 150 a day at work . , I work 40-50 hrs a week n still healthy , Girl on Saturday let me just say U R SMOKING HOT !!
DeleteThank you sir! Sounds like you are large and in charge of your own life.
DeleteBut man, that is a lot of steps.
Thank you for sharing!!! Very much appreciated from one thick woman to another!!
ReplyDeleteAs my mom would say - "As long as you are not thick in the head"
Deleteamen
ReplyDelete;-)
Deletelove the way you look!
ReplyDeleteWell, "Look Sharp" - I certainly give that a lot of weight.
DeleteI see fluffy ladies in skimpy clothing and I judge....I am not ashamed to say that I judge them....I think to my self "That chick is a badass and totally comfortable in her own skin....I hate her! (Aka: I envy her confidence and desperately wish I could disregard what people think about me and wear skimpy clothes) Working on the self confidence one day at a time. MY boobs are huge so there is no way around them, sometimes literally, I would like to find a place that actually makes suits I dont feel like I am going to fall out of. Honey; you are an insperation to me.
ReplyDeleteU should not be ashamed of ur breast size , god made all shapes n sizes , so flaunt them . FUCK WHAT OTHERS THINK ! , on a side note :P if u do get a bikini send a pic I would LOVE to see ;)
DeleteYay! Thanks so much for that, it makes my day to hear I have made someone else's :-)

Fabulous writing!!! Agreed with every word. I love your own attitude and your husband's. You make an awesome team and set a fantastic example for your children. Wishing you many years of health and happiness.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We are signing up for more:-)

Oh my gosh. I love this post SO HARD. :) Your self-acceptance is beautiful and inspiring to women everywhere, of all shapes and sizes. Thank you. xo
ReplyDeleteLaurie Kozlowski
I used to only wear one - piece swim dresses (one piece suits w/ a skirt) until I had Lap - Band about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Now I like to rock colorful tankini suits w/ a skirt (I don't like how doughy my stomach looks right now), & this year, I actually bought a pair of regular bikini bottoms to go w/ my tankini tops. While I'm nowhere near where I want to be, it is an AWESOME feeling to finally be able to look in the mirror & say "D@mn! I look GOOD!"
ReplyDeleteTrue story. BTW - I love seeing people - ALL people with ALL different bodies feeling good about themselves. That makes the world a better place.
DeleteI really wish I had your courage. I don't think that the skin and bones thing should be the image to strive for- who thinks ribs are sexy? But even though I think curvy women are much sexier, I haven't been in a bikini since I was 7. Even when I was in high school wearing a size 6 to 7, I was ashamed of my body. [Now, after having a child, I look back at old pictures and wonder what I thought was wrong with me, I looked great!] I recently went to Hawaii with my hubs and I never even wore shorts/a swim suit [even a one piece,] and never got in the water. I hate that I'm like that, but for some reason, I'm much more comfortable being too hot than comfortable but visible. I'll have to start working on it; I don't want my daughter to grow up neurotic and invisible like I have. I think it's good you set such an example for your kids. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding. Maybe small steps? Find something, anything - you can feel good in and work your way up. Being in the water is so much fun and life is too short to spend time not having fun. I bet you look great now as well, be kind to yourself.
DeleteYou are amazing..... I wish I had your guts and outlook I am a mother of 7 and ansize 16 and although my husband is very supportive and loves me no matter what I am just don't. Have the nerve even though I wish I did. But are AMAZING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling your husband wants you happy and feeling sexy - not thinner. Fake confidence until you feel it for real!
DeleteYup, following your blog. This is a topic near and dear to me. You make womankind proud!
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome and you have a new fan!!! Way to go! THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteRenata
No, thank YOU! It is so great to have this resonate with people,
DeleteI'm not going to say "you're beautiful" or "you're awesome" or any of the above. Enough people will tell you that.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to give you my opinion on what a beautiful body type is, and I'm not going to say that all of our bodies are beautiful - because to me, not everyone is beautiful. And I'm not beautiful to everyone. nor is anyone else.
What I will say is that my opinion is of no concern to you. As it shouldn't be.
What I will say is that "beauty" is based on personal taste, and it is 100% impossible to be beautiful to everyone.
What I will say is that it's inspiring to see someone grasping this, understanding this, and putting this message out there that it's okay to love your own body regardless of the opinions of others.
Great post, much enjoyed :)
Thanks so much - all true. There is a lid for every pot, but you don't need to be everyone's lid :-)
DeleteI feel the same way in a gym locker room around all the pert young "just recently graduated college and married who don't know whats in store for them in the future" girls... don't like a 40 year old wandering around in front of you with wobbly bits? Fuck you.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the future holds a lot of peace and body acceptance.
DeleteI went about 8 years where I couldn't fathom letting anyone see me wearing shorts or capris, let alone a bathing suit. Then I had a kid. And I realized just how much he'd be missing out on if I didn't get over myself. Now I wear a bathing suit and I take my kids swimming and I truly don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.
ReplyDeleteNice, I love it. Yes, you have one life - missing opportunities for fun is crazy!
DeleteKaren if that pic is anything to go by then your husband is right and more please.
ReplyDeleteWe have the internet now - you can get pictures anywhere:-)
DeleteMore pics, please...3:)
ReplyDeletePerv:-)
Deleteguilty as charged!
Delete:D
Beautiful piece, I love it...To each his own... I don't think I'll rock a bikini just yet but I'll do a slow progression from my one piece dress like bathing suits to a regular one piece then bikini. I bought one 2yrs ago, I take it out, look at it then put it back in the draw. I love that I am my size, 12 too. Most of my young adult life, I was size 0 and could not ever go past size 5 at age 45. At 23, I had to gain weight to join the Army...crazy. Now 55/165, I finally feel like a full figured woman. I have meat on my bone and I refuse to let it go.. so I'll get there, my military nature is my demon but I'll shake that sucker off soon, I'm retired now so the drill sergeant is just in my head and he will be receiving his marching order soon...LOL...Thank you, I needed this...Love when people keep it real, its such an easier and more relaxed way of living...
ReplyDeleteGreat! Happy to hear you are more and more at ease:-)
DeleteKaren so amazing and inspirational story!thank you :) can I share your story on blog viralwoman.com ? I will credit you as a source
ReplyDeleteSure! Thanks so much.

ReplyDeleteHey Karen! Just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to buy and wear a bikini this summer. Today, I wrote about your article and my experience on my blog, MommyEnnui.com. Thanks for being such an incredible role model for women and girls everywhere! http://mommyennui.com/2014/06/24/i-wore-a-bikini-and-lived-to-tell-about-it/
ReplyDeleteWhoo hooo!!! Good for you mama! It feels good to be on the path to not giving a fuck - doesn't it? So, so proud of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping me decide im done hiding my body im a mom of 2 girls and a size 12! Im gonna go and get a bikini and try the fuck it way to, proud of you thanks XO
ReplyDeleteI think you are fuckin awesome and you are teaching your daughters a great lesson, to love themselves. Keep on doing what you're doing. I think it's great. I showed my daughter your story and she thinks its fabulous too. Stay true to yourself and you'll never go wrong.
ReplyDelete*High-five* I love everything about this. I also love that in your photo you're wearing a fun bikini. It seems that so many times women wear plain bathing suits like they'll blend in, but what fun is that? We should wear fun bikinis and have fun. I'm so glad there are mom's out there like you. Thank you so much for this post

ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteGreat article! I would love to publish it on my website.
Can I have more information about u, like lastname, location etc?
Oh, and it would also be a pleasure if u could write a few words for us. Its a website for strong, powerful moms from Brazil called "leopard mom".
Thank you for writing this. I needed to hear it.
ReplyDeleteGreat! I am happy to hear that. It is so meaningful to me.
